Devon is beautiful all year round, so plenty of options for wedding planning at any time of year. Here’s some inspiration for what works well when!
Spring. With the hedgerows full of yellows, blues and pinks, spring is perfect for a brightly coloured wedding using seasonal flowers. Why not incorporate the bridal party clothes into the colour scheme, a bright yellow tie or hankie for the guys and grape hyacinth blue for the bridesmaid dresses. Just make sure you’ve got a cute bolero in case you need to cover up from the chill, and make the most of the natural confetti of blossom trees.
Summer. Marquee weddings in the summer are a real crowd pleaser. Whether you have your own land, or use someone else’s you can really go to town in a marquee. It’s warm into the evenings, so you can use the area outside the marquee too, and your guests can camp nearby if there’s room. The possibilities, are endless, but our favourites have been in a meadow, by the beach, in a field or on the cliff overlooking the ocean.
Autumn. If you’re lucky your wedding could fall during an Indian summer, delivering a little late warmth, but either way, a barn wedding is ideal for Autumn. It really lends itself to the colours of the changing leaves, the mellow mists and imagine what you could do with your colour scheme and table decorations, something really different.
Winter. Weddings in the winter can exaggerate the romance of the occasion. Imagine a country house with a roaring fire, candlelight and the tones of gold and berries. Make sure you keep your guests and yourself warm, so accessorise with shawls or stoles, provide cosy blankets for favours and brollies in case of rain. The best piece of advice would be to have the ceremony and reception in one place, no need to go outside then.
Come rain or shine, Devon has fantastic options for all seasons.
